Who am I 

Hello, and a big welcome to the Sappho and the Mountain Hare ®️ website.

My name is Louise. I’m a behavioural biologist, writer, and meditation teacher. I connect these activities with a creative scientific thread. I moved to Australia from Scotland to complete my doctorate and become a Ph.D. some time ago! Now I live in South-West Victoria in the beautiful hinterland of the Shipwreck Coast a stone throw from the Great Ocean Road.

As a behavioural biologist I spent a lot of time watching and waiting for my fellow creatures to do their thing. It’s an activity that I find naturally meditative, and comes with a sense of curiosity and empathy for our planet’s co-inhabitants. This contemplating and meditating leads to creating through writing. Writing is my way of observing and collecting my thoughts, and my understanding of my environment. Writing is also my way of connecting to nature, others, and my own emotional being.

I would like to offer you some of my writing on this site. I also invite you to look over the meditation courses or online videos. I teach reflective and contemplative styles. These styles focus on connecting with, and being more aware, of our environment ( natural and man-made) and ourselves. Contact me or book online.
